Abstract

Eight plant species, viz., Vifex negundo Linn., Ageratum haustonianum Mill.,Mentha longijolia Linn., Cinnamomum tamala Nees and Eberm., Canabis sativa Linn., Lantana camara Linn., Mumaya koenigii (Linn). Spreng, Eucalyptus sp. L’ Herit. along with sand were tried under storage conditions in the form of powder of dry leaves. Application of powdered dry leaves of Ageratum haustonianum or Canabis sativa (2 cm thick layer) to stored potato revealed no infestation by potato tuber moth up to 120 days. Also, Vitex negundo and Mentha longifolio dry leaves powder were equally effective and only 6 per cent infestation was noticed in the potato kept in stores up to 120 days. No significant rottening of potato tuber was observed in these treatments.
