Abstract

Four new species of Elateridae, viz., Glyphochilus spissus sp. nov., Horistonotus spatulatus sp. nov., Senodonia bicoloris sp. nov. and Cardiorhinus truncatus sp. nov. from four different families were collected from the localities ranging from lower hills to high altitudes of Himalayas. G. spissus is near to G. leptus but differs in size, the former being 11.0–15.0 cm and the later 7.0 mm, and also in having concave surface of the head with median bulging and densely punctate prothorax. H. spatulatus sp. nov. resembles none of the species and the name is based on spatulate pubescence. Also, S. bicoloris sp. nov. does not resemble anyone and the name is based on its bicoloured body. C. truncatus sp. nov. is allied to C. cruentus, but differs in size (C. truncatus 18.5 mm, C. cruentus 12.0 mm), in having blackish antenna and black body, without blood red prothoracic sides, and also non-impressionate frons.
