Abstract

The solvent extract of various plant parts (stem, matured leaves, tender leaves and flower) of Ipomoea carnea Jacq. (Family: Convolvulaceae) at different concentrations, viz., 1, 2 and 3% were tested for antifeedant property against the semilooper, Achaea janata Linn., a pest of castor, Ricinus communis L. All the treatments were significantly superior to control. The extract of stem at three per cent concentration was very effective and gave 88.04 per cent protection of leaf area.
