Five species of Aphodius have been found new from north-west India. These differ from other allied species in the following characters: A. devabhumi sp. nov. from A. ustulatus in elytra of orange-red colour, and longer hind tibial spur equal to metatarsus; A. campestris sp. nov. from A. marginellus in size smaller, and pronotum more punctate; A. parvatia sp. nov. in uniform dark colour, and pronotum strongly and closely punctate; A. rugosicapita sp. nov. from A. lividus in longer hind tibial spur longer than metatarsus, and colour more darker; and A. mussooriensis sp. nov. from A. moestus in size smaller, colour darker, and elytral intervals convex and with small fine hairs. The new species also differ from other species in their external male genitalia.
