The juvenoid active component from the extract of Blumea laciniata Roxb. was applied topically on the dorsum of 0-1-day old ultimate instar female nymph of Dysdereus cingulatus Fabr. Six doses, viz., 1.84, 3.75, 7.5, 15, 30 and 45 pg of the active component per insect were used. This resulted into absence or reduction in number of mature oocytes to varied extent, depending upon the quantity of active component applied and degree of morphological abnormalities in the abnormal forms. The resorption of oocytes, tumor like protuberance in the germarium and degeneration of wall between the oocytes were also observed.
