Abstract

Eight maize varieties were evaluated for comparative resistance to maize jassid, Zyginidia manaliensis (Singh). Among these, maize varieties VL 88, CM 600 and CM 202 manifesting 10.8, 26.9 and 7.0 per cent plant infestation and 2.7, 7.3 and 9.3 jassids per 30 leaves, respectively, proved relatively more resistant to this pest. On the other hand, variety Arun showing 85.6 per cent plant infestation and carrying 49.3 jassids per 30 leaves emerged as relatively more susceptible to the maize jassid.
