Studies on the insect pests of wasteland plantations at Faizabad (India)*

Abstract

Insect pests infesting newly laid wasteland plantations, viz., Aegle marmelos Correa; Syzygium cuminii Skl. and Morus alba L. were recorded during 1989 at Akmapur Farm of Narendra Dev University of Agriculture and Technology, Kumarganj, Faizabad. The insect pests infesting different plantations comprised Popilio demoleus L., Henosepilachno 12-punctata Fab., Clitlea picta Baly, Phyllocnistis citrella Stain. and Myllocerus undecimpustulatus Faust on bael-(Aegle marmelos); Bemisia taboci Genn., Drosicho mnngiferae (Green), Polychrosis cellifcra Mey, Acrocercops spp. and M. undecimpustulatus on jamun (S. cuminii); and H. 12-punctata and M. undecimpustulatus on mulberry (Morus alba) plantations. Out of these insect pests, M. undecimpustulatus, C. picta, P. citrella, P. cellifera, Acrocercops spp. and H. 12-punctata were recorded as the major pests in such wasteland plantations.
