Abstract

White grub beetle population was monitored with the help of light trap in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh (India) during 1992 and 1993 from March to October. More than 20 species of beetles were trapped during different months. In both the years, Anomala lineatopennk Blanch. was abundant in June, whereas Holotrichia covifrons Brenske appeared in July. Melolontha melolontha (Linn.) was recorded during July-August in 1992 only, whereas in 1993 it did not appear in Palampur. The emergence of A. lineatopennis was favoured by low rainfall as compared to H. covifrons and M. melolontha.
