Abstract

Studies on time spent per flower by Apis mellifera L. and Apis cerana indica F. were conducted on rapeseed, Brassica campestris var. brown sarson during 1990–91. The two species did not exhibit significant differences in the mean time spent per flower. Also, both the species did not show significant differences at 0900, 1200 and 1500 h of the day in relation to time spent per flower. However, both the species spent maximum time per flower at 0900 h than at 1200 or 1500 h. Further, there were significant differences in the time spent per flower by pollen gatherers of A. mellifera between 0900 and 1200 h.
