A new species, Octocryptus kalesarensis, collected during night from the light source in the forest of Kalesar (Haryana: India), has been described. It does not approach close to known species and has been named after its locality. It is black, covered with small brown scales. Prothoracic margins crenulate and posterior angles truncated. There is no subapical process of parameres, the latter is shorter than aedeagus.
