Abstract

Samples of opened cotton bolls were collected during 1993 and 1994 from the cotton fields sprayed with insecticides in Hisar and Sirsa districts, Haryana (India). These were examined for the incidence of pink bollworm, Pectinophora gossypiella Saunders. Mcan incidence of the pest (on locule basis) was 11.6 and 13.7 per cent during 1993 and 1994, respectively. Among different zones, the minimum incidence (8.5%) was recorded in Sirsa and maximum (16.1%) in Dabwali zone. Overall, the farmers obtained 47 per cent control of the pest over the unsprayed fields during both the years.
