Abstract

The values of vuiance-mean ratio (I), Lloyd's index of mean crowding (X*), Lloyd's index of patchiness (Ip), exponent K and Morisita's index (Iδ) revealed aggregativc nature of the population of Aproaerema modicella Deventer on groundnut crop. The negative binomial distribution showed a good agreement between observed and expected frequencies. The chi-square values showed a high probability of fit into negative binomial distribution reflecting contigious distribution of A. modicella. The values of mean density (X) for the leaf miner and leaf webber stages of A. modicella (30.37 and 18.68) were more in kharif season as compared to rabi season (2.02 and 1.965). This explained more severity of the pest incidence during kllarif than in rabi season.
