Adults of Tribolium freemani Hinton have subparallel body, measuring 4.5–5.5 mm in length and 1.7–2.2 mm broad at the widest point. Cuticle is dark reddish brown. Head is heavily sclerotized. Antennae are of capitate type. Prothorax is the largest part of the thorax; pronotum measures 1.63 mm at the base. Venation of the wings is highly reduced. Tarsi of fore and mid legs are five segmented while those of hind legs only four segmented. First three sternites of the abdomen are connate. Externally, male and female are similar. T. freemani can be distinguished from T. castaneum Hbst in its much greater size and from T. madens in body colour. T. freemani is dark reddish brown, whereas T. madens has blackish cuticle and reddish or brownish antennae and legs.
