Abstract

Susceptibility of two broad bean cultivars, viz, 3002 and 83–324 to cowpea aphid (Aphis craccivora Koch) and pea aphid (Acyrthosiphon pisum Harris) populations was evaluated under laboratory conditions, when reared at 15 and 19°C. On the basis of reproductive and growth parameters, these two cultivars were susceptible to cowpea aphid and pea aphid. Cultivar 3002 was more susceptible to cowpea aphid and pea aphid, while 83–324 was highly susceptible to pea aphid. It was suggested that higher temperature would create outbreak conditions for cowpea aphid, whereas lower temperature would be suitable for pea aphid for such conditions to occur.
