Abstract

A list of insects detected in seeds during quarantine processing of the germplasms imported from different countries is presented. Apion clavipes Gerstaecken (Coleoptera: Apionidae), Callosobruchus dolichosi (Gyllenhal) (Coieoptera: Bruehidae) were intercepted from Atylosia sp. seeds imported from Sri Lanka. Cryptolestes ferrugineus (Steph.) (Coleoptera: Cucujidae), was detected in sorghum seeds obtained from USA and Zimbabwe. Liposceles sp. (Psocoptera: Liposcelidae) and Sitophilus zeomais (Motschulsky) (Curculionidae: Coleoptera) were intercepted in pigeonpca imported from Indonesia, and sorghum from USA, respectively. These five insect species were recorded as pests of quarantine significance to India.
