Abstract

Studies on the changes occurring in the testes during post-embryonic stages of drones of Apis cerana indica F. revealed step by step development. The rudiments of testes occur in the 4th, 5th and 6th abdominal segments of drone larva. Their size increased with the growth of larva. The spermatocytes are formed in late larval instars. In oneday old pupa, the testes fill the entire abdomen. By fourth dahof pupation, the testicular follicles form aggregation of spermatozoa. This condition continues up to the formation of the adult.
