Abstract

The genus Neothrinax Enslin constitutes the first record from India. Described as new species are Neothrinax muculiventris sp. nov. from Zunheboto (Nagaland) and Neothrinar smitensis sp. nov. from Smit (Meghalaya). On the basis of some key characters, N. macultventris sp. nov. comes close to N. sumatrana Forsius but can be distinguished as follows:In N. muculiventris antennal segment 3 is little shorter than 4; all trochanters are pale and all femora are yellow, whereas in N. sumatrana Forsius, 3rd antennal segment is little longer than 4th; metatrochanter is black and all femora are black. Similarly, N. smitensis sp. nov. is somewhat allied to N. corvina Malaise but a combination of some characters, such as absence of pale spots (one each on mesoscutellum and praescutum); legs entirely yellowish; front wings hyaline and characteristic shape of median fovea, easily distinguish the former from the latter. Also, a key to the oriental species is provided.
