Bioefficacy of various insecticides, viz., cypermethrin, deltamethrin, fenvalerate, fluvalinate, oxydemeton methyl, dimethoate and endosulfan, was evluated for two consecutive crop seasons (1993–94 & 1994–95) against the shootfly, Atherigone naqvii (Steyskal) infesting wheat. All the insecticides were effective in checking the damage by this pest. However, all the synthetic pyrethroids proved better than the other insecticides. The grain yield recorded for the second year, however, showed no significant differences.
