Abstract

With the report of Aneugmenus pteridii Malaise, from Meghalaya and Nagaland, genus Aneugmenus is recorded first time from India. This species is very close to Aneugmenus verticinus Malaise, but on the basis of the following combination of characters: lateral furrows strongly convex, postocellar area very deep and sharp (lateral furrows sub-convex, postocellar area shallow and ill defined in A. verticinus); epicnemim separated from mesopleuron by deep and sharp furrow (epicnemium separated frgm mesopleuron by a very indistinct furrow in A. verticinus), both can be easily set aside from one another.
