A new species of the genus Obesulus Boucek (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) from northern India

Abstract

The genus Obesulus Boucek has been reported for the first time from India. A new species Obesulus indicus has been described with illustrations. O. indicus sp. nov. can be distinguished from the only known other species O. ater in having body dark brown, antenna uniformly dark brownish with scape at basal half yellowish, wings hyaline with infuscated band near stigmal, vein, scape more than five times longer than wide, three anelli present in between pedicel and first funicle segment, pedicel less than two times longer than wide, club more than three times longer than wide, head wider than long in facial view, thorax longer than wide, fore wing less than two times as long as wide, and post marginal vein more than two times shorter than stigmal vein.
