Abstract

During 1996–97, the population build-up of lace bug, Teleonemia scrupulosa Stal was studied on the noxious weed, Lantana camara Linn. at Chamba representing mid hill sub-humid zone of Himachal Pradesh in India. The maximum population (6.35 bug/shoot) of the bug was recorded in September, 1996. During this period, the average maximum and minimum temperatures (°C) were 33.6 and 18.8, respectively. The total rainfall was 50.6 mm. The zero population was recorded in January, 1997 during which the meteorological conditions included minimum temperature (1°C) and maximum temperature (19.5°C) and total rainfall (62.0 mm). Thereafter in January, 1997, the population of this bug showed an increasing trend. There was significant correlation with the maximum and minimum temperatures but showed non-significant positive correlation with rainfall.
