Crude acetone extract of seeds ofAnnona squamosa Linnaeus (Family: Annonaceae) tested against the 3rd and 4th instar larvae and pupae of laboratory colonized strain of filarial vector, Culex quinquefasciatus Say (Diptera: Culicidae) indicated a dose dependent larvicidal and pupicidal activity. An extract 0.03% caused 100% mortality of 4th instar larvae, while 80% and 83.75% deaths occurred in the 3rd instar larvae and pupae respectively, within 24 h. Third instar larvae treated with 0.017% extract and 4th instar with 0.01% extract resulted in 100% reduction in adult emergence. Thus, the extract exerted a significant effect on larval mortality and viable adult emergence.
