1A part of approved M.Sc. (Ag.) thesis submitted by M. Shyam Sundar to the Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University (formerly A.P.A.U.), Hyderabad, (India).
The efficacy of Neemazal T/s proprietary formulation based on azadirachtin (1% EC) was tested for larval mortality against the third instar larvae of Spodoptera litura (Fab.). The respective LC50 and LC90 values of azadirachtin were 125.51 and 516.87 ppm through topical method, and 110.20 and 373.78 ppm by ingestion method. Evidently, the toxicity was higher with ingestion method. Similarly, with respect to ovicidal action of azadirachtin, the LC50 and LC90 values for one-day old eggs of S. litura were 157.49 and 760.32 ppm, respectively by egg dip method.
