Abstract

The biochemical changes were studied in brown planthopper, Nilaparvata lugens (Stal) at different stagcs of infection by the entomophthoran fungus, Pandora delphacis. Quantitatively, a sharp reduction in the concentration of protein, lipid, free amino acids, nucleic acids in infected host bodies was observed, whereas healthy host bodies contained higher concentration of such constituents. The levels of free sugar and protein bound sugar were higher in infected host than in the healthy host bodies.
