A new species of cheloninae, viz., Chelonus (Chelonus) shafeei is described and illustrated from India. The new species can be distinguished from its closely related Indian species Chelonus (Chelonus) deogiri Kurhade & Nikam in having vertex densely punctate, antenna 29-segmented, terminal segments of antenna two times longer than wide, temple rugose, notauli distinct, carapace rugose punctate, light yellow spot on basal half of carapace, and apical region of mandible yellowish brown.
