Life tables for Heliothis armigera (Hübner) on ten chickpea genotypes were constructed. The net reproductive ratio (Ro), mean length or generation (Tc), intrinsic rate or daily increase (rm), nnite rate or daily increase(λ), and weekly multiplication rate (erm)7 ranged rrom 142.14 to 268.63, 39.12 to 45.22, 0.1180 to 0.1385, 1.125 to 1.148 and 2.565 to 3.016, respectively on different chickpea genotypes. Based on weekly multiplication rate or H. armigera, these genotypes could be arranged as NDG-90-27, BG-1027, BG-267, IPCK-94-4, BDG-80, IPCK-94-2, H-89-96, C-235, L-550 and P-256, in the increasing order or their suitability for or decreasing order or their antibiosis in relation to this pest. Among the ten genotypes, net reproductive rate was higher on BG-1027, while the mean length or generation was shorter on C-235 in comparison to the standard check i.e., P-256. None of the genotypes was round more suitable than P-256 for H. armigera, with respect to any or the three population growth parameters, viz., intrinsic rate or increase, finite rate of increase and weekly multiplication rate.
