Studies on the population build up of the rice hispa, Dietadispa armigera Oliv. vis-à-vis abiotic factors revealed that adults of rice hispa started appearing as early as second fortnight of May and remain active on the crop till the second week of November. In all four peaks were observed during the season. The maximum population of adults and grubs were recorded in the month of August, when the crop was in the mid-tillering stage. Minimum temperature and relative humidity were significantly correlated with the adult and grub population.
