The plant attributes, viz., number of branches per plant and fruit length showed significant positive correlation with floral part infestation (r=0.761 and r=0.580 respectively) by gall midge, Asphondylia capsici Barnes. The variety JM-218 and Phule C-5 were found highly infested by midge but gave higher yields out of 13 varieties exhibited tolerance against gall midge. The maximum number of branches 9.51 per plant and longer fruits (10.85 cm) were recorded in variety JM-218 followed by Phule C-5 with 6.59 branches per plant and 9.47 cm. fruit length.
