Abstract

LC 50 for male and female of Diplonychus rusticus treated with larvicide (Abate) and adulticide (Solfac) was determined separately. The concentrations of the pesticides responsible for the 50% mortality of the bugs were more or less equal to the concentrations applied against mosquito population in the field. These pesticides produced immediate effect against mosquito population and also showed lethal effect against the water bug at 24, 48, 72 and 96 hrs. of exposure. The female bugs were more tolerant to the pesticides than the males.
