Abstract

The various indices of dispersion viz. variance-mean ratio, dispersion parameter ‘K’ and common K. (Kc). standard normal variate ‘d’, Lloyd's indices of mean crowding (X*) and patchiness index (X*/), David and Moore's index. Lexis index, Morisita's index, Taylor's power law and Iwao's regression were used to determine the spatial pattern of population distribution of sugarcane pest, Chilo sacchariphagus indicus (K.). Negative binomial variables were simulated by using Monte Carlo technique and Taylor's parameters a & b and Iwao's regression coefficients α & β were obtained. Based on the coefficient of determination (r). Taylor's power law method was found superior to Iwao's regression method.
