Abstract

In beetles with a range up to 100 ovarioles/female, almost all the ovarioles are healthy and functional (99.76%). On the contrary in highest ovariole range groups (102 to 200 ovarioles/female) about 5.6% of the ovarioles are dysfunctional. The indices of ovariolar efficiency showed highest rate in summer forms, and lowest in winter forms. Crowding and competition among the ovarioles and inadequate nutrition were the causative factors for ovarian dysfunction.
