Abstract

First report on Emnelia monodactylus L. as a pest of sweet potato in Egypt. Studies on its life history indicated incubation, larval, and pupal periods as 3.33, 11.5 and 5.2 days respectively. The longevity of the female was 5.9 days whereas the male lived for 2.4 days. Total life cycle ranged from 14–20 days during June–August, 1995–96. Two larval parasitolds belonging to two families viz., Chalcididae and Eulophidae were recorded on this pest and parasitization ranged from 00.00 to 13.33%.
