Studies on the effect of boric acid, used at 0.25, 0.50 and 1.0 per cent concentrations in the diet on the egg laying by fruit flies, Bactrocera tau (Walker). showed that egg-laying was reduced in comparison to control. At 1.0 per cent concentration, some deformed eggs or eggs with very thin chorion was laid. Egg laying ceased after 3 days at 0.50 and 1.0 per cent concentrations, whereas after 4 days at 0.25 per cent concentration.
