Significantly better control of the Nodostoma subcostatum as evident from suppression of beetle population(3.00/plant), number of scars (4.11/5 sq. cm) and fruit infestation (7.91%) was achieved by two rounds application of malathion (5% dust) at 25 kg/ha, closely followed by carbaryl (0.3%) as spray or pouring (20 ml/banana heart) when applied five time at fortnightly intervals starting from first fortnight of May. Malathion dusting proved best treatment giving maximum bunch weight (18.05 kg/plant) as against 12.53 kg/plant in untreated control.
