Plots receiving higher dose of nitrogen experienced higher pest damage except for whorl maggot. The increase in infestation was directly proportional to levels of nitrogen. Among the six varieties tested with five levels of nitrogen, IET 5760, IET 5914 and IET 8002 to whorl maggot, IET 5760 to leaf folder and Rajshree to stem borer, were found least susceptible. The whorl maggot infestation was maximum without N application and minimum with highest level of N.
