Studies conducted on biology of Apion amplum (Faust) on greengram indicated that incubation period, larval period and pupal period lasted 3.9, 14.1 and 8.2 days, respectively. The male adult lived for 24.2 days, where as females lived relatively longer for 34.4 days. The pre-oviposition and oviposition periods were 5.7 and 3.9 days, respectively. The fecundity of female was 11.8 eggs. The total life cycle (egg to adult) of the insect was observed to be 57 days.
