Two solvents viz., acetone and acetonitrile for extraction of beta-cyfluthrin from cabbage and cauliflower (curd and its leaves) while solvent mixtures of acetone-water (3:1) and acetonitrile-water (3:1) were tested for soil extraction. Quantification was carried out using GLC fitted with Ni63-ECD detector. Acetone was found good for extraction of cabbage and cauliflower curd and acetone-water (3:1) for soil samples while acetonitrile was found good as extracting solvem for cauliflower leaves. Dichloromethane was found optimum as the partitioning solvent in the case of cabbage, cauliflower curd and leaves while ethyl acetate performed better for partitioning of soil extracts. In case of cauliflower leaves, Florisil-charcoal (2%) was preferred as adsorbent for clean up while Florisil gave best efficiency in all other cases.
