Abstract

Duration of different development stages of M. confrater on Macrosiphum rosae infesting Rosa spp. was studied under laboratory conditions. The duration of egg stage of M. confrater was 3.28 days and of first, second and third larval instar was 2.86, 2.00 and 3.00 days, respectively, during which the larva consumed an average number of 46.86, 98.43 and 160.71 individuals of aphids. The total larval period averaged 7.86 days during which it consumed 306 individuals of M. rosae. The pupal stage lasted for 8.00 days. After feeding on M. rosae, the longevity of males was 15 days while females lived for 19 days. Total mean time of development was 19.14 days.
