Chromosomes from neuroganglion of early 4th instar larvae and gonad tissue of 14-24h old pupae of Culex quinquefasciatus and Aedes aegypti from different ecogeographical areas were examined by using the lacto-aceto-orcein squash technique. A good number of chromosomal abnormalities viz. chromatid breaks, sister chromatid exchanges, dicentric bridges with acentric fragments were recorded in Bhanjabihar and Berhampur population there by indicating the presence of certain agents in the environment of Bhanjabihar and Berhampur population which seems to interact with the genetic material of its inhabitants.
