Abstract

Studies on toxicity of synthetic pyrethroids, Deltamethrin (Decis 2.8 EC) and Lambdacyhalothrin against Italian honey bee, Apis mellifera L. at different exposure periods indicated that LC50 values at 24 h were 2.98 ppm, 2.44 ppm and 1.52 ppm for 10 min, 30 min and 60 min exposure time, respectively for deltamethrin. In case of lambdacyhalothrin they were 43.73 ppm, 12.92 ppm and 14.24 ppm for the same exposure period. The toxicity of lambdacyhalothrin became 4 times as it's exposure time increased from 10 min. to 30 min. while in case of Deltamethrin there was non-significant difference in level of toxicity with increase in exposure time.
