Studies on different solvent extracts of leaves of Polygonum hydropiper evaluated against tea mound building termite, Odontotermes assamensis Holm. indicated that chloroform extract showed better insecticidal activity than petroleum ether or methanol extract. The direct exposure to 2.0% chloroform extract caused 100% termite mortality within 24h of treatment. Extract treated circular soil barrier was more effective than the horizontal barrier in preventing termites from attacking tea wood pieces.
