Abstract

Studies on varietal differences to two major stored grain pests viz. Sitophilus oryzae Linn. and Rhizopertha dominica Fab. in pearl millet showed that GHB 558 suffered least damage by both the pests as compared to other genotypes. Pusa 383 was most susceptible to both the pests. The average percentage of damaged seed due to S. oryzae ranged from 2.0 to 24.8 and 3.0 to 24.5, and number of adults emerged varied from 5.0 to 39.0 and 6.0 to 38.0 in 2005 & 2006, respectively. The average percentage of damaged seed due to R. dominica ranged from 12.0 to 32.3 and 11.8 to 31.7, and adults emerged varied ranged from 14.0 to 72.0 and 13.0 to 70.0 in 2005 & 2006, respectively.
