Ovipositional preference studies on different substrates by brown lacewing, Micromus igorotus Banks (Neuroptera: Hemerobiidae) revealed that under no choice condition there was no significant difference in the number of eggs laid on cotton screen and cotton thread and were superior to corrugated brown paper and black card sheet. Under free choice condition, it preferred to lay eggs on cotton screen with 80.80 percent eggs followed by cotton thread. The larval and pupal survival and harvest index were significantly inferior in the eggs obtained on cotton screen compared to those obtained on cotton thread, corrugated brown paper and black card sheet.
