Semi-synthetic diet based on various ingredients, bits of mulberry leaves and distilled water was formulated and standardized for rearing the silkworm Bombyx mori. An optimal quantity of the mulberry leaves’ in the artificial diet appeared to be indispensable because of specific food requirements, of silk worm as the silkworm was not able to survive in pure artificial medium. The rearing on this semi-synthetic diet reduced the larval period of Bombyx mori.
