Flower head extract of Spilanthes acmella was tested for the antifeedant activity against the third instar larvae of Spodoptera litura. Among different concentrations, 2.5% was the most effective and showed 100% feeding deterrence. It was followed by 2.0% (96.3%), 1.5% (81.0%) and 1.0% (66.6%) respectively. The other concentrations (0.25 and 0.50%) were less effective with percentage of deterrence ranging from 20.1 and 30.8%. The reduced food intake was also reflected in the decrease of relative larval weight at high concentrations.
