Abstract

Nine botanical oils viz., eucalyptus, citronella, lemongrass, ginger grass, palmarosa, neem, karanj, castor and mahua each @ 10 ml/kg of pods were evaluated against the groundnut bruchid, Caryedon serratus. Oils of eucalyptus, citronella, lemon grass, ginger grass and palmarosa provided total protection to groundnut pods by inhibiting oviposition of bruchid for five months, whereas, neem and castor oils gave total protection for four months. All the botanicals were superior to control.
