Field evaluation of insecticides and transgenic Bt cotton against pink bollworm in cotton revealed that the transgenic Bt cotton was most effective in reducing pink bollworm infestation among all the treatments by recording lowest larval incidence and green boll locule damage. Among insecticides tested Spark (deltamethrin + triazophos) was the best followed by triazophos, deltamethrin, thiodicarb and lamda cyhalothrin. While chlorpyriphos, neem formulation, novaluron and emamectin benzoate were found ineffective recording high green boll locule damage and larval incidence in addition to high open boll and open locule damage at harvest. Highest yields were realized in spark (29.25q/ha), triazophos (28.50q/ha), transgenic Bt cotton (28.39q/ha) and deltamethrin (28.05q/ha) treatments.
