Abstract

Immunocytochemical localization of some neurotransmitters, serotonin, dopamine and γ-aminobutyric Acid (GABA), is evident in the neurosecretory cells in the brain and ventral ganglia in the water beetle, Cybister tripunctatus. The medial neurosecretory cells of the brain and lateral neurosecretory cells of the abdominal ganglia show immunoreactivity with the antisera of all neurotransmitters treated. The antisera of serotonin, dopamine and GABA, moreover, show immunoreactivity with the mid-anterior, mid-dorsal and postero-lateral neurosecretory cells of the suboesophageal ganglion as well as the antero-lateral, postero-lateral and midposterior neurosecretory cells of the thoracic ganglia respectively.
