Abstract

Murraya koenigii (L.) Sprengel, commonly known as curry leaf plant belonging to family Rutaceae, suffer heavy damage due to large number of insect pests in Jammu region of J&K State. A total of 12 insect pests belonging to 10 families of 5 insect orders were recorded infesting curry leaf plants in districts Jammu, Kathua, udhampur and Samba of Jammu region. Of all these insect pests infesting curry leaf plant, Papilio polytes romulus (Lepidoptera), Psorosticha zizyphi Stainton (Lepidoptera), Diaphorina communis (Homoptera) have been recorded as major pests causing extensive damage to plantations in Jammu region while others are placed in category of minor pests.
