Abstract

The study clearly indicated that the worker bees took 4.9 ± 0.80 hrs (Mean ± SD) to remove dead brood in highly hygienic colonies, while in moderately hygienic colonies removed all dead brood 10.5 ± 0.83 hrs and in non hygienic colonies the worker bees took 14.6 ± 0.73 hrs. There were wide degree of highly hygienic, moderately hygienic and non hygienic responses which were unique to the eco-habitats where they live in. however, the highly hygienic colonies were faster in detecting, uncapping and removing the dead materials from the cells of honey bee A. cearna indica colonies.
